Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic medical system originating over 2300 years ago. The foundation for health and vitality is based on the harmonious flow of Qi through the body’s meridian system, which connects various organs tissues. Acupuncture can help re-balance this Qi flow.

How does it Work?

As explained in the “Spark Within the Machine”, modern physiological concepts such as electrical and biochemical activities that regulate organ function and overall health also align with the ancient Chinese understanding of energy.

The stimulation of specific acupuncture points on the body can lead to changes in the body's bioelectrical system. This, in turn, can help to regulate organ function and improve health by enhancing the flow of Qi, which is central to maintaining our physical and emotional well-being.

“Rather than isolating symptoms or diseases, Chinese medicine seeks to understand and treat the underlying imbalances in the body’s energetic system. The goal is to treat the root, not just the symptoms. This medical system emphasizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, and treatments, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and restorative therapies such as Meditation and Qi Gong, restore balance and promote the body’s self-healing ability.”

What to Expect

A bright yet relaxing treatment room with plants and spa-like touches. We’ll review your concerns, then examine your pulse, tongue and abdomen to further refine your diagnosis. Acupuncture is typically done clothed, but please wear loose clothing with roll-up-able pants and sleeves, or shorts and tanks/t-shirts, weather permitting. Ladies, please avoid tight yoga pants and sports bras.

After a tongue, pulse and abdomen assessment, treatment will proceed with the insertion of fine needles into different acupoints for a minimum of 20 minutes. Generally, a front and back treatment is done. A heated table, infrared lamp, red light therapy and hot towels will decrease your pain and assure your comfort. Adjunct treatments such as cupping, gua sha, electro acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina may also be used.

Introducing Shared Acupuncture Sessions!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

Well, yes a little, needles are sharp and pointy. But an acupuncture needle is very fine, like a hair. Fun fact: you can fit roughly 30 acupuncture needles into the head of a hypodermic needle used for drawing blood. So, a little pinch on insertion, and then generally you’re good to go. Expect sensations like heaviness, warm, tingly, or maybe a sensation you can quite explain – that is the Qi moving.

Can Acupuncture treat <insert condition here> ?

Yes, acupuncture can address a wide variety of concerns but particularly excels in Chronic and acute pain, headaches, stress, anxiety and nausea.

Are Acupuncture needles reused?

Absolutely not. Acupuncture needles are sterile, single use, filiform needles.

How to Change my Photo from Admin Dashboard?

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast
